Where to start? A lot has happened since the last time I've posted here, so I will give you a brief recap of the last three months and then bring you up to speed on the most resent awe-moments.
The last three months I've been working with a Compassion DTS (Discipleship Training School) with Youth With A Mission Denver. I've been sitting in classes with them, worshiping with them, teaching in class on a few occasions, leading some ministry times, spending some one-on-one time with a few of them, building life relationships and basically, doing life with them.
It's crazy! That group of students are now on outreach all over the world, and a new one is about to come in just another week. But, while the last group was here, God did some ground-breaking things that I will never be able to forget.
For The Compassion DTS students: I saw them challenged in every way; a decision was made; and then transformation took place. Over and over again I saw this happen, and in each situation, God proved Himself so good and so faithful! They were challenged in additions, relationships, identity, beliefs, wavering health, persevering through exhaustion and in the end, conquering them!
During that school, we (the YWAM Denver base) joined with our family from YWAM Kona and lead an outreach in Orange County, CA. Our base directors and some others felt like God was going to sweep over the United States with a wave of...well...ultimately, Him-God, that would spread from the west coast to the east coast. So, with that in mind, we drove approximately 1000 miles to California, as an act of obedience; found a big tent near the beach, invited everyone we came in contact with to it (praying and ministering to them as we went), and had passionate speakers from our group and the neighboring churches bring the fire of God upon them (through preaching, teaching, prayer, ministry and worship). It was like nothing I've ever seen before! People we were talking with were either open to the gospel message completely and joined us in the cause, or were completely opposed but were later brought in by only God himself and received Him as their Lord and Savior. We saw healing and restoration all around us, all the time! Praise God!
During that time (and the week leading up to it all), God transformed everything around me: YWAM Denver- our passion and our demeanour, in worship and everyday life; the students with us at the time- their identity as children of God and the hierarchy that it encompasses; myself- my perspective on others and on the gospel message and why it is so important to share it as Christ intended (in love); and everything- because my perspective in general has been transformed!
All and all, it was an amazing quarter! But the best part is that God's not finished with me yet! That's just the beginning! Next quarter I'll be working with our School of Social Justice. This school is all about educating the students enrolled about injustice issues, hearing God's heart on the matter, and seeing what they can do about it- ultimately, it's about love and hope. So I'm looking forward to another three awesome months (and I'll make it a point to update this at least bi-weekly)!
That's all for now. If you have questions, chat with me on Facebook. Remember that the missions field is everywhere the Father's heart can minister to one of His children- so, you can help right were you are. Don't wait for me to write a cool story for you to read, go out there and make stories of your own. There's a whole world out there that is broken and dying for the truth/love you know about...the questions is, WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT IT?
