Greater Love

DTS or other YWAM schools: a metaphor

Last week I had to say bye to quite a few of my good friends...and it was possibly one of the hardest things I had to do. Then I got to thinking, "how is it that I feel such a close connection to these friends that it was so hard to say 'goodbye', or even 'see ya later'?"

Then this metaphor, (I suppose we'll call it) came to mind, and I find it to be true: it's like we went to war together. As comrades have each other's backs, so we find ourselves fighting for each other, with each other. And something happens when you're in battle together, none of the surface things matter. So, deep relationships are made in a few short months, or less.

And, it's not a bad thing when they move away, in fact, I rejoice with them (and what God has done and is yet to do), but it is hard because they actually mean something to me.

Yet, even now, we fight the same war, but at a distance, instead of side by side.

Let us not forget those who have made an impact on our lives and let us not grow weary of telling them so (sometimes an encouragement/prayer is all a friend needs to fight the next battle). And in the same way, let us learn to lean on one another and share each others burdens so we can fight more effectively!

"Greater love hath no man than this: that a man lay down his life for his friends" -John 15:13

I suppose this is what Jesus meant when he said this.
